Santo Antonio SHP Plant commences commercial operation

February 07, 2012 - Energisa Group's Santo Antonio Small Hydropower (SHP) Plant commenced commercial operation last February 4, following authorization from Brazil's electricity regulator, ANEEL. The plant's two 4 MW generating units had been undergoing commissioning since January. Built on the Grande River, near the municipality of Bom Jardim, the Santo Antonio should generate an additional 42 GWh annually.In addition to the Santo Antonio, Energisa Group subsidiary Energisa Geração Rio Grande also developed the Caju and Sao Sebastiao do Alto SHP plants, both of which are in full commercial operation. The three power stations have a combined capacity of 31.2 MW and an annual output of approximately 157.4 GWh. The entire output has already been purchased by free consumers under long-term contracts.Commercial operation of the Santo Antonio has been another important milestone in Energisa Group's strategy of expanding generation capacity through renewable sources to 500 MW by 2017.

 

Energisa does well in the IR Global Rankings for the second year in a row

November 23, 2011 - Energisa is a finalist in the 2011 version of the IR Global Rankings. The award ceremony took place yesterday, November 22, in the city of São Paulo. For the second consecutive year Energisa came in the top five in the category "Financial Reporting" amongst all Latin American companies taking part in the awards. The result takes into account the comprehensive detailed financial information that Energisa reports to the market, in addition to the clarity and transparency in its communications with investors. More than 80 companies took part in the ranking this year, which also evaluates companies in Asia, North America and Europe. IR Global Rankings was created in 1999 and has an exclusive methodology.


 
Energisa invests in its first bioenergy project
December 22, 2011 - Energisa S/A (BM&F Bovespa: ENGI3, ENGI4 and ENGI11) today announced its first investment in bioenergy. The Company has signed an agreement that could add as much as 170 MW to its generation asset base. The transaction will consist of an acquisition from Tonon Bionergia of an 85% interest in two operational sugarcane biomass thermal power plants in Bocaina, São Paulo and Maracaju, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.
